Curriculum

Froebel’s offers a rich co-curricular programme which allows students to apply what they have learned in the classroom, strengthen their skills and explore new areas of interests. Art and craft, music, ICT, IPC and educational trips are a part of every child’s experience building on a strong foundation.
Daily circle time provides regular opportunities for students to develop their listening skills, learn new vocabulary, practice language skills, build self-confidence, and learn about being a member of larger community as a whole.
The UK based International Primary Curriculum (IPC) provides a cross-curriculum thematic, rigorous teaching structure designed to engage children of all abilities in today's world, and also meets the needs of the UK National Curriculum. The academic focus of Froebel's International School is centered on the belief that all students have the inherent ability to achieve academic excellence within a healthy and inclusive learning environment and multiple learning tools. The IPC enables students to achieve such an outcome through an activity based interactive program which eases the process of acquiring knowledge and, at the same time, promotes coping and motor skills through a sequential learning-by-doing approach. The programme is implemented by qualified, trained and empathetic teachers and provides a smooth transition from the Early Years to the Primary Years.
Physical education activities cover body control (rhythm, flexibility, agility, balance, direction, speed and intensity) simple sports skills (running, jumping, throwing, catching and kicking) and basic games and exercises. Instruction encourages fitness, respect for rules, sportsmanship, safety and use and care of sports equipment.
The implicit curriculum of character education, teaching of moral principles, insistence on order and firm discipline, and steady encouragement of solid work habits is very much part of our daily teaching.
In the Early Years we provide feedback to parents by individualised student reports and parent-teacher meetings.
* Subject offerings may differ in subsequent academic years
YEARS - 1, 2, 3, 4 AND 5 Primary years offer’s a rich co-curricular programme encompassing the following subjects: Literacy, Numeracy, Urdu, Islamiyat, Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Art, Physical Education and International Primary Curriculum (IPC). The International Primary Curriculum (IPC) is a comprehensive, thematic, creative curriculum for 3-12 year olds, with a clear process of learning and with specific learning goals for every subject, for international mindedness and for personal learning. As the pioneer of IPC (International Primary Curriculum) in Pakistan, our vision is to be at par with international educational standards. The IPC is designed to ensure rigorous learning but also to help teachers to make all learning exciting, active and meaningful for the children. The IPC is an amalgamation of the following subjects: geography, science, art, history, music, PE and computers. IPC is used by schools in more than 90 countries around the world and Froebel’s is proud to be one of them. Islamiyat and Urdu are compulsory subjects for all Pakistani nationals in accordance with the national education policy. Foreign students are not required to take Urdu and Islamiyat. Teaching staff is constantly given trainings to be updated with the new teaching trends and to be at par with the current teaching methodologies for the benefit of the children. The ESL (English as a Second Language) programme at Froebel’s provides intensive, academic English language learning for foreign students whose native language is not English. The programme prepares students for successful integration into the regular programme of studies. The ESL room has several computer workstations, an extensive collection of books and both classical and contemporary stories on audio cassettes. Curriculum for the primary years aims to empower the learners, groom them and bring about the best of their capabilities so they can move on to the lower secondary section with a sound foundation.
The Guidance Counseling (GC) office has been a part of Froebel’s International School for over twenty years. It was established with a mandate of providing a facilitating environment that engages students in a comprehensive, developmental program aimed at their overall well being by encouraging academic, social, emotional and personal development. The strategy of the office involves providing a holistic guidance and career counseling programme aimed at developing the Froebel’s student’s individual competencies in self-knowledge and awareness, make realistic decisions, improve their abilities and skills, contribute towards building strong student profiles and is specifically designed to assist in making and implementing informed educational and occupational choices. The GC office team comprises of a professionally trained full time counselor and an assistant guidance counselor.
The approach of the counselors towards students is ‘Person centered’ that focuses on showing respect, empathy, genuineness and unconditional positive regard all the while maintaining strict confidentiality. Counselors engage and cooperate with the rest of the school’s administration, teachers and parents when it is deemed necessary and beneficial for the student’s. The counselors provide students with personalised one on one counseling sessions as well as group counseling. They administer standardised valid personality tests, assessments and career interest inventories, arrange for local and international university fairs and university representative visits, and arrange internship and community service opportunities. The counselors facilitate students for the entire university and college application process for admissions all over the world particularly the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and Europe as well as all Pakistani universities.
Froebel’s realises the significance and impact of music to help develop a child’s memory, perception, language and vocabulary which contributes towards a productive learning experience. IPC recognises the significance of music in strengthening new concepts within young minds and specific musical activities are designed for this purpose. Thematic rhymes and songs are taught at different levels using string and percussion instruments such as piano, drums and tambourine.
The school also hosts events to bring out the best from the students through recitals, interactive assemblies and class activities. It is made sure that each and every child gets an opportunity to participate and showcase his/her talent.
Children have to be active every day. Physical activity stimulates growth and leads to improved physical and emotional health. Sports teaches them discipline, time management and teamwork. That is why athletics is an integral part of our curriculum starting from playgroup to A Levels. Besides the scheduled classes throughout the year, students participate in the annual sports day, which showcases an array of sports activities. The event is open to family and friends who watch their children perform and demonstrate their athletic abilities.
